The Birth of a Dream, Part I

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

There’s no end to life’s ups and downs on earth - that is, of course, till the end of the world. Even so, life itself cannot end. Everything goes on as it has, is and will. The search for meaning, happiness, comfort, and all the nice things that we give sentimental values to is innate. Subjectivity and objectivity has long been warred over battles at the cost of the innocent. What’s left, then, at the end? Does it matter? After stretching ever limited minds to perceive the universe and beyond according to mathematical philosophies, with spirits and determination that are ever so timid, frail and weak, only God can be found at the end of the tunnel.

The journey doesn’t just end there. Many would console themselves saying that they’ve arrived somewhere though they have no knowledge whatsoever of where they really are in the midst of existence. As for me, I too have thought so once. Yet after my so-called arrival, my mind dulled and my spirit emptied. To begin with, how can a man walk with his head looking backwards while his toes are facing forwards? Feelings of unworthiness only wears a person down and brings him to his knees. Yet, those whom much is forgiven will love much while those whom little is forgiven loves little. I have been forgiven; much or little I know not. Perhaps it all depends on how much we allow God to come into our lives to really work His grace and love through and through.

I have come to a point in time (now) where all I’ve ever tried searching with my childish mind is of no importance to me. Seriously, there is more noise than anything else in this world. Quoting Charles R. Swindoll, "Noise and crowds have a way of siphoning our energy and distracting our attention, making prayer an added chore rather than a comforting relief." Everyone wants to have a say in everything and yet are too cowardly to actually practice what they preach (and that includes praying). What is everyone really trying to say about this tiny world that all of us share? "What is truth?" or "What is existence?" or "Who is God?" Most define existence by the kind of meaning that is attached to it, which in turn provides purposefulness to something which is nothing. Yet with this alone we have made ourselves so complicated and confused out of perpetual stupidity and fear. Of course, nothingness itself can be defined in terms of that which cannot be seen, or even absence. Thing is, absence doesn’t always necessarily mean non-existence. And this is the wonder of assumptions. Assuming that one is, is the same as assuming that another isn’t, depending on how existence is defined. Absolutely, definitions of existence should never be limited to that of the mere physical realm, but also the metaphysical (simply, philosophical perceptions, abstracts, and supernatural forces). Yet perception in both realms make no difference in how we function. Fact is that the world is blinded in either side of the realm; plain, blank reality is hidden from our naked minds. So at the end of the day, nothing matters anymore…

… And as that happens, we begin to understand how the little, simple things in life perpetually beautify everything that surrounds us, including ourselves. It is only here, that we truly harness the ability to dream and pray. And as the colors of life begin to unfold, we realize that the Kingdom of Heaven isn’t that far away and complex as we imagined it to be… God placed it here - in our fragile hearts - out of His unbelievably amazing love.
